Getting in touch with us
If you wish to raise any comments or concerns you can do so in a variety of ways such as:
• Attending local meetings:-
Police Surgery. An opportunity for you to meet privately with a member of the neighbourhood team to discuss any policing issue of concern. This is a drop-in event so you may have to wait a few minutes.
Police and Communities Together Meeting. This is a public meeting where the police and other public authority representatives will be present. Its main purpose is to determine what the local priorities for action over the next three moths will be. It gives members of the public an opportunity to raise their concerns and influence those decisions.
Street Briefing. The whole neighbourhood team will be briefed on current problems in the area and tasked to deal with them. The public can meet with the officers and be informed about how they can help with these issues.
• By email to the neighbourhood team - use the contact form on the right of the page.
• By telephone using the single non-emergency number 0845 60 60 222.

Shed Burglary Warning
Recently the Hessle area amongst others have suffered from burglary to sheds. The property that seems to be sought are high value cycles. We would ask that you review your security on your sheds and also consider marking or post coding your cycles. Another useful tool for the police would be to make a note of any frame numbers or serial number, name, type and colours of the cycle including any distinctive marks etc., This is very useful information in the sad event that your cycle is stolen as often owners cannot give the police any of this information when recording a theft. The school holidays has seen a decline this year in calls for anti social behaviour from youths. This seems to be the same across the neighbourhood cluster. The team are overjoyed regarding this matter and believe this maybe due to the teams been seen in the relevant YCA areas on a regular basis.

AUGUST Update on priority:
We continue to deal with this priority as there have been sporadic calls for service for August.
On Sunday 25th July 2010 and Sunday 1st August 2010 officers from the neighbourhood team carried out an operation in the area.
We intended to provide a deterrent by our presence in the area and deal firmly with anyone found riding motorbikes.
On both occasions we gave advice to several people who arrived in the area intending to ride their bikes but we did not find anyone in the act of riding motorbikes. We did however move to the South Cave area where reports had been received and several motorbikes were seized under section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002- there was evidence to suggest that some of these riders had been displaced from the Brickyard Lane area.
Additional patrols have been carried out on the following dates, 03/08, 10/08, 12/08, 15/08, 16/08, 29/08, 30/08.
There was only one occasion when two vehicles were checked but found to be in order with no offences committed.
Following a meeting involving the police, ERYC, the environment agency and local landowners, we are awaiting news of when a barrier will be erected
We will continue to monitor this problem.

We will continue to monitor this area into September.

Cars speeding at Melton in the industrial area
This is a new issue that has emerged over the last few weeks.
We are liaising with local businesses and premises to gather information and will carry out high visibility patrols in the area over the forthcoming month.

Early Turns
Aim to achieve community engagement patrols at locations such as schools and commercial premises. PCSO’s aim to be outside a local school each early shift for 0830 hours and again at 1500 hours. Also from 0900 to 1400 hours to conduct High visible patrol, visiting victims of crime offering advice and reassurance in line with the policing pledge. When not visiting victims to spend time on high visibility foot patrol, engaging with the community, for example at shops or public amenities such as libraries
10September
Late Turns
To pay attention to areas identified for YCA problems e.g. Skate Park in North Ferriby, and Sykes Close Swanland. This should take place between 1700 hours and 2200 hours, but has to be flexible to take into account calls for service and visits to victims.

Parking issues in Swanland
Regular visits to be made by PCSOs to monitor and enforce parking regulations, in the main street/ shopping area of Swanland.
Action Taken:
3 tickets have been issued to offending vehicles this month so far.
2 tickets issued on the 13 March
1 ticket issued on the 16 March
General patrol has taken place by officers at this location on the following date:
PCSO Overton 2nd, 5th, 6th and 12th March
PCSO Cammack 7th, 10th, 11th,12th March as well as the 16th, 22nd,23rd and 24th March
No offending vehicles were located.
During March/April there has been no need to issue any further fixed penalty notices. This issue was discussed at the Police and Community partners’ forum, held in Swanland on 15Th April 2010. It was agreed that this issue no longer is required to be a priority. The parking within Swanland is limited and no doubt it is revolving problem that cannot be fully solved without changing the geography of the village. The PCSO’s will continue to monitor the situation and where needed use enforcement.
Preferential treatment will not be given and all offences will be dealt with in accordance to traffic regulations. We receive many complaints about car parking in Swanland so we will enforce the parking rules.
Nuisance Motor Cycles Plantation Wood/Brickyard Lane area.
This is a new addition to our priorities, and whilst nothing new was put forward at the Police and Community partners’ forum, calls for service for this issue have emerged as we enter the lighter nights and fairer weather.
April update
Visits have been made to the area already by PCSO’s and Police officers in response to complaints received. The nature is not usually about the manner of driving/riding but the noise that travels on the wind, disturbing the peace of residents who perhaps start to enjoy their gardens about now.
There is also a safety issue, as these locations are walking routes, so that should be borne in mind.
So how can the users of the motorcycles be dealt with. In the first instance it is hoped that communication and education would be effective, but if that is not successful other powers are available. Because of the location use of powers to seize rider’s motorcycles can be used. This works on a one warning and then seizure basis. Also the use of a fixed penalty notice (£30 fine) as an alternative deterrent can be an option.
Patrols when possible will be encouraged to check these locations to police the issue.

29/6/10 – Late evening patrol 21.15 hours located an adult male and his three sons from Hull using un-marked motorcycles on the local area of Brickyard Lane . The father was advised re his use of the location and the complaints that had been received from local residents. The group were checked and vehicle details recorded with a view to any future occurrence and the issue of Section 59 warnings leading to vehicle seizure.
23/7/10 – Multi Agency meeting with local landowners, East Riding of Yorkshire County Council and Humberside Police to formulate considerations for geographic location hardening to prevent off road motorcycle use in the local area of Brickyard Lane, Melton.
25/7/10 – Dedicated tasking for local Neighbourhood Team with the intention of issuing formal Section 59 warnings to all off road motorcycle users on the public bridleways and tracks. Operatiion Nomad.
On other occasions in the month when patrols have visited there have been no vehicles present.
PCSO Jacklin has had a couple of meetings in the last month, both with the land owners and the council in repect of the fencing to the old Capper Pass site on Brickyard Lane, and also in respect to access to the lane itself that leads to the area.
Further meeting have since taken place in July and some progress has been made. The possibility of better fencing been put up and the installation of a ‘kissing gate’ to prevent vehicles entering the location are on the agenda.
The neighbourhood team have dealt with 15 people here during July as well. On 25/07/10 a day of action was carried out by the team, which was successful in that it deterred and prevented vehicles entering the area. We hope to repeat this operation again.
To Add another location that has become a slight nuisance in the last month, Common Lane at Welton, leading down to the sailing club. Youths have been gathering and sometimes entering the club, drinking alcohol and then releasing boats onto the lake.
Some success has already been achieved in that a large quantity of alcohol was seized from some under age drinkers on Thursday 17th June and again on 23rd June when the names of a large group was obtained at the sailing club. Their details are being passed to the anti social behaviour officer at East Riding Council for further action.
During July alcohol valued at over £100 was seized and disposed of in the Welton area. The youths concerned have been referred to the anti social behaviour team at East Riding Council.
1/7/10 – Welton Waters patrolled in the late evening. No persons present at Sailing Club or surrounding area.
4/7/10 – Welton Waters patrolled early evening. No persons present although contact made with On-Site security regarding an unknown suspicious male taking photographs in location. 839 report submitted.
10/7/10 – Welton Waters patrol located a vehicle in the general area of the Sailing Club containing 4 white adult males. No alcohol or other substances present. All checked and details recorded by Officers.
