Target Hardening - non dwelling burglaries

Rural areas and villages continue to be a target for opportunist criminals. Again, a large proportion of these incidents have occurred through properties being left insecure and valuable items being left on view inside insecure doors and windows. High visibility patrols along with dedicated plain clothes patrols are being carried out in the villages.

PLEASE remember, report any suspicious people or vehicles you see to Humberside Police on 101 (or 999 in an emergency or if a crime is in progress). If you can safely get descriptions or registration numbers, please do so. You may help detect a crime!

WHAT ARE WE DOING!!!

Officers have been engaged in high visibility reassurance patrols in the villages.
Whilst on patrol premises have been checked for insecurities and relevant crime prevention advice given.

As a result of targeted patrols:-

- Two males were stopped in Aike and Lockington, door to door selling.
-

Offenders Brought to Justice

Patrol times and locations

Our strategy is that we use Police Community Support Officers, Regular and Special Constables to patrol set hot spots, such as the policing priorities given as well as those areas where crime and disorder occur. This can change rapidly and the details are taken from calls for service. So, please ring in and report any crime or disorder that you witness or that affects you.

Previous Priorities

June 2010

Speeding A1035 Tickton

Motorists appear to be complying with the new 50mph speed limit. Road works that have commenced to the area outside Tickton Grange appear to have a calming effect on traffic. Over the last month a fatal road traffic collision occurred near to Hall Farm on the A1035, enquiries are still ongoing; however speed was not a consideration.

We have suggested to the council that a roundabout at the first entrance to Tickton from Beverley would also have a calming effect on traffic and make it easier for people leaving Tickton and the Polo Club to get onto the A1035.

May 2010

Speeding A1035 Tickton

The local Policing team continue to monitor the by pass area at Tickton, however this still remains a national speed limit.

Road works that have commenced to the area outside Tickton Grange appear to have a calming effect on traffic.

Residents are reminded of the new speed limits now in place through the village of Routh, reducing this stretch of the A1035 to 50mph.

Anti Social Behaviour in Leven Village

Reports of anti social behaviour have decreased in the last month. Incidents of minor mischief appear to have ceased as a result of possible suspects being spoken too by the local policing team.

A number of youths from the village have been stopped by officers and alcohol confiscated. Details of these youths were then obtained and letters sent home to parents. Residents are reminded of the legal age limits to purchase and drink alcohol. Also that the playing fields, school area and the main street are all no drinking zones.

Officers would also like to express their concerns regarding under age drinking. Along with the long term health risks, young people also put themselves at risk and often commit other criminal offences due to their intoxicated state.

Poaching and Farm Watch in the Beverley Rural Area

The Poaching season is now drawing to a close; however the initiatives undertaken have proved to be a great success.

Three males from the Middlesbrough area, who regularly travel to our area to commit offences of hunting wild mammals with dogs, have all be prosecuted at court. They received individual fines together with a forfeiture order for their vehicle, binoculars and dogs. (These dogs will be re homed). This will hopefully send a positive message and we look forward to a decrease in reported incidents in the new season.

Farm Watch continues to grow in numbers. I would encourage existing members to continue to report incidents to the police and anyone considering membership, please contact our team on the below number.

Over the past month there has been an increase in thefts from farms/ rural areas. The target being scrap mental, due to the high price it yields at the moment. Farm Watch has played a key role in alerting local land owners to any suspicious vehicles in the area.

If you are interested in being a member of Farm Watch please do not hesitate to contact your Neighbourhood Policing team on Te:- 01964 530320. It does not matter if you are not part of the Beverley Rural area, we will take your details and pass them on to the correct team or link you into our own Farm Watch depending on where you liv

April 2010

Poaching and Farm Watch in the Beverley Rural Area

Officers have been engaged on Poaching initiatives throughout the Beverley Rural area. We have been working closely with colleagues from neighbouring community policing teams, along with members of Farm watch and local land owners and game keepers.

These initiatives have resulted in two males being arrested for using dogs to pursue wild mammals; these two males are currently on police bail. A third male was reported for summons for the same offence and their vehicle seized.

Over the past month there has been a significant decrease in the number of poaching related incidents reported.
This is as a direct result of the above initiatives along with the increase in members of the Farm watch scheme.

The local policing team continue to promote and recruit members of the local farming community to register as part of the Farm watch scheme.

If you are interested in being a member of Farm Watch please do not hesitate to contact your Neighbourhood Policing team on Te:- 01964 530320. It does not matter if you are not part of the Beverley Rural area, we will take your details and pass them on to the correct team or link you into our own Farm Watch depending on where you live.

Speeding A1035 Tickton

Over the past month there has been a change in the speed limits on the A1035 between Beverley and White Cross roundabout.

The first part of the road out of Beverley up to Hull Bridge near to the river remains to be 40mph.

The second part from Hull Bridge bypassing Tickton and then stopping short of Routh village remains a national speed limit.

Over the past month there has now been the introduction of a 50mph speed limit along the remaining stretch of the A1035, passing through Routh village.

Along with the 50mph signs, repeater boards displaying speed camera devises are displayed.

Early indications are that there appears to be a reduction in speed, however your local policing team will continue to monitor the situation, and continue with enforcement and high visibility patrols.

This was raised at the recent Police and Partners Community Forum held at St Mary’s Parish Hall. Unfortunately the speeding issue was linked to the main A1035 going along beside Tickton itself which is a 60 mph road and we are not able to do speed enforcement there, so have referred this to the road policing department.

Anti Social Behaviour in Leven Village

As the nights have become lighter, there has been an increase in youths frequenting areas of the village.

There have been two distinct age groups dealt with by your local community policing team.

The first group being younger children causing annoyance and minor mischief. High visibility patrols have deterred this age group from any further offences.

The second group are mid to late teenagers who frequent area of the village in small groups.
Officers again have been engaged in high visibility patrols and this has resulted in a quantity of alcohol being seized and 8 letters being sent home to parents.

Officers are liaising with East Riding of Yorkshire Council with a view to working with the detached youth work team and engaging young people in activities. We are aware that these youths may walk onto Brandesburton Village and patrols are patrolling both villages to search for these youths.
