Driving safely
Driving safely is your responsibility.
Bad driving puts lives at risk, and driving is a skill that needs 100% concentration at all times.
The Highway Code is essential reading for everyone. Many of the Code’s rules are legal requirements – if you disobey them, you are committing a criminal offence.
In this section, you can find links to information about:
- Guidance on child car seat safety.
- The correct documents required for driving.
- Advice for horse riders and for drivers in the vacinity of horses.
- Riding motorcycles and mopeds legally and safely.
- Traffic and travel information.
We have also prepared guidance, including video interviews with our Casualty Reduction Officers, in relation to:
- Speed Awareness [video interview]
- Seatbelt law and the effects of choosing not to wear a seatbelt [video interview]
- The dangers of drink driving [video interview]
- The law regarding driving whist using a mobile phone, and the outcomes of choosing to do so [video interview]
