Ian Watson, Assistant Chief Officer (Human Resources)
A Cumbrian by birthright, joined Humberside Police in February 2008. Prior to this Ian had a background in the military, other police services, and has held HR directorships in both the private sector and NHS.
After joining the army and serving in the Infantry for 10 years, Ian attended University achieving an MBA, he also gained a MSc in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations at UMIST.
He has held the senior positions of Human Resources Director in both food manufacturing and the NHS. Prior to this Ian had previous experience of the police service in both Essex Police and Lancashire Constabulary in various equality and HR roles.
A Fellow Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development, he is married to Sue and they have a young daughter Elizabeth. Ian's hobbies include walking his two black Labrador dogs, sailing the Drascombe longboat, backpacking, reading and the cinema.
